PostSubject: {{Sorry about the shaky-ness of this post. I was nervous.}}   Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:42 am

Setsuko stopped dead in her tracks as she heard the struggle going on. It was a ways from her house, but still quite close. She dropped onto her stomach once she heard gunshots, but those soon stopped and rustling in the brush followed. Minutes passed, and the air was filled with a deafening silence. She slowly stood up and walked through the door.
"Is this the game that the old man was talking about?" She muttered to herself.
The ground was sandy and blue in the dark sky, the moon was the only light. The brush was more threatening than she remembered, but Setsuko went in anyway, only to stumble upon a young man on the ground, unconscious and lightly scratched. Setsuko knelt beside him and studied his face. He was handsome, but his hair was bleached and he wore dark clothes. She fought with herself if she should take him in for healing or not. He could be dangerous, he looked like one of those punk ruffians on the television, but he seemed to be in a snag. Setsuko could handle herself, anyway. A bag rested beside him. Both were heavy, and were going to be a pain in the ass to haul back to her house, but the distance was short enough. The bag arrived in the two story wooden shack first, and then she returned for the boy. He was still asleep, and a lump on going around the side of his head was more apparent. There was also a sliver of blood going down his mouth. She crouched behind him and lifted from underneath his arms, being careful to not lift from her back. The two slid along the sandy path, and after a while, he was finally in the house. A groan of tiredness escaped her lips, and she stretched. A glint of something near his belt caught her eye, it was a gun. Kneeling by him, she lifted the tails of his blazer. There were a lot more weapons, and probably more in his bag. Grenades, daggers, various types of guns. Her core turned to ice. But she would be alright. Setsuko could handle herself. She sighed and took all the weapons and his bag and headed to the nearby room, carefully stashing the weapons in the closet. The handcuffs resting on top of the worn police uniform shined in the dim light.
Setsuko returned with the cuffs in one hand and a gun in the other. He was soon near the stairs, and she had attached the cuffs to the stair railing, and then his hands. She slipped the key into the button pocket of her night-dress. The gun was placed on the oak table nearby, and she sat by him on the floor. After taking an interest in the walls for too long, she looked down at him, noticing that there was a shine around his neck; a metal collar fit around the smooth skin, and she reached out to touch it, stroking the metal softly. Setsuko pondered why she did not have one, herself.

PostSubject: Re: Gunpoint Kiss- The Roleplay Before the Writing   Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:55 am

Every piece of consciousness rested tauntingly just out of his grasp. His mind clawed for wakefulness every short span of time he found his thoughts again, but still his eyes remained shut, and his senses blurred in and out. He could feel momentum, briefly, like he was moving, but there was no way he could be moving, not when he couldn't feel his own body or had any sense of his environment... But more sensations drifted in and out of his awareness. Footsteps. Breathing. He had to get up. He had to wake up. But he couldn't feel anything yet, not even his own eyelids, like his mind was completely detached from his body... Yet at every moment of consciousness, he knew he had to get up.

The sound of morning birds was dimmer, then. And as Kazuo Kiriyama gradually awoke, he realized it was because they were outside. He was inside. He hadn't been inside--

Panic struck him then, and his dark eyes shot open. There was someone just in front of him, reaching for him even; his hand flew for his gun - but caught, jerking against something metal uselessly. Before he had barely even taken in where he was or who he was facing, sensations assaulted his waking mind. His shoulders and back felt sore, probably attributed to the handcuffed position he found himself in. His jaw and stomach ached from where the butt of his adversary's shotgun had hit him. There was a burn in his bicep where said shotgun's ammunition had blasted just past his arm, leaving a small crater of ripped cloth and flesh in its wake.

He crumpled initially at the pain that kicked in upon his waking, but slowly lifted his gaze, eyes at once bitter and alert and feral, not unlike a captured animal's. Before even glancing over his would-be opponent, his gaze swept for weapons; he could feel his body lacking the weight of his weapons. He knew he didn't have his bag or his revolver or his Uzi on him. Where did his weapons go? Where was the submachine gun?

All the while, the wild-haired youth struggled frantically against his handcuffs, hands writhing behind him for escape.

Fear shot through every inch of her body when he awoke. Her heart raced as she pulled her hand back, as if an animal suddenly turned around to hiss and bite. Muscles tensed, arms and legs propelling her away from the wild boy. Pain shot through her body as her head collided with the wall behind her. Reflex caused her to close her eyes and her left hand reached up to massage the tender skin.
"Dammit..." Setsuko breathed. "...What the hell did I do?"
Her eyes opened, she was dizzy, but that subsided quickly. However, her deathly fears froze her blood once she saw that she was not far away from the feral boy. His struggle against the handcuffs had not stopped, but he was able to see her; his eyes were fixed on her in a gaze of unrelenting hatred. The gun. The gun was on the table. The table was too far away. She did not want to turn her back on him, even if he was pinned. Lungs clenched, her throat tightened. His eyes challenged her to move. It was a dare that she did not want to accept.

Soon enough, the youth's efforts at escape wore him out - if only due to the previous blow to his head that had knocked him out. A wave of dizziness struck him, and his wild head of hair reeled slowly downward as he was forced to shut his eyes in an attempt to steady himself. Too much sensory input too quickly. His brain was not braced for such panic the moment he awoke, not after the hit that had been dealt to it. Come to think of it, Kazuo wasn't sure he could even remember who or what had hit him... His brow furrowed at the thought.

But that was far from his biggest problem at the moment, and not one he was going to spend too much time dwelling on.

When Kazuo lifted his head again and scanned the room a little more carefully, his gaze soon locked onto his submachine gun on a table some distance away... before shifting to the girl who seemed to have captured him and confiscated it. A kind of darkness billowed into his eyes, and though his face appeared largely expressionless, there was a deadly serious threat in his eyes alone. It was a look that both begged and dared her to let him go, but a look that guaranteed she would be killed if she did.

He gave a sudden jerk against his restraints, but of course met with no success. Instead his nose wrinkled as a scowl flickered through his features, and he winced despite himself, his breathing picking up for a second at the burning pain in his arm. His dark eyes flitted only briefly toward the injury. After a moment, his head and gaze dropped to the floor almost defeatedly. Just a few hours into the game - the game he had volunteered for - and he was already sore all over, weaponless, held captive, and had a wound threatened with infection.

But the sour look lingering in his face dissipated somewhat then. He had just taken out five kids, unarmed, with a gun to his head, with a piece of gum in under thirty seconds. It had been the highlight of his life so far, and he wasn't about to pass up 36 other kills. His gaze sifted across the floorboards contemplatively. Boy number six would worm his way out of this predicament, too. There was no way the Program was over for him now.

Heavy breaths escaped her mouth as she tried to work past the constricting muscles. The stabbing panic was still there, but now every part of her body was shaking. Setsuko noticed that she was not alone in her labored breathing: the larger wound on his arm. It was red around the skin, but still bleeding. Begging to be infected. There was a first-aid kit in the closet, she knew where it was. Rapid thoughts passed through her mind, debating each other if she should even heal him. This wild boy she found in the forest turned out to be more dangerous than she could comprehend, but he was hurt. He was still a human.

The floorboards were colder against her bare soles. Her body was still shaking as the closet neared. Everything was colder, the air, the latch as she slid the door open, everything. His eyes were bearing into her, his gaze promised her death. Setsuko wanted nothing more than to crawl into the closet and hide from him, but that would be no good. The wounded captive was determined to escape, he looked like he could find a way if left to his own machinations.

The first aid kit was a little worn out, but larger than most available at the small store miles away. The case unlatched, allowing many supplies to fall onto the floor. Bandages, cloths, bottles of cleaning were abundant. It was more than enough to assure no infection. A wooden bucket that her family barely used was resting nearby, but she needed that, too, and the white, dusty washcloths resting inside. The lump growing on his head could pose to be a problem, but that would have to be taken care of after the bleeding wound. She sloppily placed the contents back into the white case and slid it against a nearby wall, making sure that the boy saw it so that he would calm down. The bucket was thrown from its place, almost hitting the table with the submachine gun placed on it.

Her approach was slow, and her closeness to kneel by him was very hesitant, but she did it. The first aid kit opened again and she slowly undid the bottle of cleaning alcohol and grabbed and clean cloth. The smell of the stuff radiated through the room, but it was a smell that she knew and liked. She reached to hold his arm, but stopped midway.
"...Don't panic. I'm not going to hurt you, but this stuff," She nodded at the cloth." "It'll sting a bit."

His gaze lifted again to follow the girl across the room warily. The intensity of his eyes was so unwavering it was a wonder he ever blinked. He did not take his eyes off of her as she appeared to gather medical supplies in a small case before returning. Tension cascaded through his lanky form in a great wave, and the youth pressed back against the stair railing he was locked to, the metal of his handcuffs chiming at being moved. When the bottle of what was obviously alcohol was opened, his nose wrinkled back into a scowl. Kazuo hated strong odors. His own hair held the scent of a bizarre blend of maple syrup and toothpaste - the stuff he used to style it with - but the smell was not overpowering enough to bother him.

He pressed back against the railing again at her reaching for him, gaze flickering between her and the cloth in her hand; but he held relatively still nonetheless, and was quite limited in the space he could move to get away, anyways. The wound would be easier to clean if he could take his jacket and shirt off... but he knew that wasn't happening when he was handcuffed. Besides - his dark eyes shifted to gaze longingly over at his submachine gun - if he was freed, his first move would not be to tend to his arm.

"Would you stop leering at that machine gun?" She breathed.
The words were quiet enough to probably get past his hearing. She did not want to get him angry, but she was growing uneasy about his longing for a weapon. Thin, long teeth clenched on her bottom lip as her fingers wound around the crater on his sleeve, and a tearing sound resounded through the room as the fabric was pulled; it was enough to tend to and dress the wound. He stiffened as she gently held his arm in place. The wound was getting red, so she started to gently wipe away the excess blood and dirt. Another cloth was procured, then another. A stinging guard cream was next, then the bandages.
"There." Setsuko said as she finished tying. "Now, for that lump on your head..."
She left, grabbing the bucket as she headed through the back door.

Water leaked and erupted from the bucket as she walked back in. Sharp breath entered out of her mouth as she placed the bucket down, but the real job began. Their eyes met: his as intense and unwavering as ever, hers were filled with reluctance and fear. She adverted her eyes and pulled a cloth from the dark pool, squeezing it to avoid needless dripping. The cloth was placed on the back of his head, she pressed it there. Minutes passed and the swelling did go down, but she kept the dampness pressed to his hair.

Her eyes studied him once again, her shaky hand traveled up to her bare neck once she saw the collar again. The open hand became a fist once she saw the handcuffs chaining him to the railing.
"Sorry about the cuffs..." Setsuko muttered, her voice getting louder as she continued. "What the Hell is going on here? Everyone's gone and then some creepy old teacher said something about a game. And what's with the collar?" There were a few moments of silence that sat on her chest. "Say something, dammit!"

Kazuo glowered at the girl upon the murmuring he could not quite make out - but he could tell it was some agitated remark. Regardless, he held still at her taking his arm, flinching reflexively when she tore some of the fabric out of the way. His body remained perfectly tense through her dressing the wound, as if poised to spring, only interrupted from time to time by his occasional wincing. As much as he tried to look away, however, his gaze kept drifting back to the injury while she worked at it... particularly as it bled.

He visibly relaxed once she was finished and had shifted away from him. But some amount of alarm lit up his face at her mentioning of a lump on his head. Kazuo had noticed no such lump, but then, he hadn't been able to move his hands since waking up. The dull ache in his head didn't feel to be coming from anywhere in particular.

When she had left, the boy spent all his spare time scanning through his vicinity for anything that might help him out of the handcuffs, and a small portion of said time merely eyeing the gun on the table. A subtle pout crept into his face, almost as if he missed the weapon like a child might miss a favorite toy that had been confiscated. But when the girl returned, his default deadpan swept back into his features and his dark eyes shifted to glowering at her again.

Reluctantly, hesitantly, he dropped his head somewhat so that she could have easier access to wherever she needed to reach, which ended up being the back of his head. Once the damp cloth was pressed there, he could feel the more distinct pain of what must have been a bump.

Though his gaze was mostly occupied moving across the floor absently while the cloth was pressed to his head, it lifted a few times to eye the girl, particularly each time she moved. When his gaze found her throat, however, he froze, before a look of mild alarm came into his eyes. His gaze darted between her face and her throat, then, almost anxiously. He seemed to barely notice her apology about the handcuffs, he was so caught up in scrutinizing her. Why didn't she have a collar? Come to think of it, she didn't have that beige uniform on either. What the hell was she doing here without a uniform or collar when she hadn't even been in the classroo-

His brows knit somewhat at her questioning, and he stared at her as if she had just spewed some other language at him. He flinched at her outburst when he did not answer. The wild-haired youth only continued to glare at her, though there was a perturbed look about his eyes, now, too, and his gaze periodically flickered to her bare throat.

Setsuko let out a rattled sigh. He was glaring at her. Not a single word poured from his mouth. Could he even speak? If he could, he was exceptionally quiet. The cool cloth went away from the back of his head to the wooden pool, and then returned. Her throat clenched again as her vision got blurry; face becoming cool and wet from the tears. The salt was wiped away, and she began to hold it all in.

The bump had stopped swelling minutes ago, but the pressing had not stopped. Holding in her tears had become easier over time, she distracted herself by looking at the red, rising sun, and at the wild captive. His eyes often drifted from glaring at her to mild worry whenever he looked at her neck or her clothes. Setsuko's curiosity was now peaked, but past occurrences told her that he would not talk when she asked; she would have to rely on context.

He was wearing a slightly torn black school uniform, but why would a schoolboy have to carry weapons? Not even the delinquents featured on the news would be carrying grenades or an Uzi. Especially not a submachine gun.
"You can't be here for a school trip, if you're armed like that..." His glare did not even break, so she decided another route.
A heavy sigh came from her lips.
"Days ago, we heard gunshots, and my parents told me to hide in the basement." She looked at a rag nearby, under it was a trap door to the cellar. "Military men were shooting people who threw rocks at them, so I hid. But, they found me." There was a sharp inhale. "I was about to be shot, but then some creepy man came with them. He told them to lower their guns, and said that I was gonna make the game interesting." Her eyes locked with his. "...Are you playing this game?"

He eyed the glistening of tears on the girl's cheeks as if they might strike out at him, but finally averted his gaze from her after that. Kazuo had seen girls cry before - even because of him, usually if he was beating the shit out of someone's boyfriend. But crying annoyed him. Seeing a girl cry made him want to punch her much more than comfort her. This train of thought led to briefly reflecting on the pleasant memories of past opponents' bruised and bloodied faces.

But he was pulled back into focus to glance out the nearest window, where the sun was still rising and its first rays were beginning to creep across the island. He wasn't tired at all. Kazuo's sleep schedule was erratic, to say the least; even at home, he slept only for very short periods at very random times, essentially whenever tiredness struck him. It was far from a healthy schedule, as the dark rings of deoxygenated blood about his eyes would tell. But sleep just wasn't his priority. He thought of it as a waste of time.

His gaze shifted to study the girl some more as she moved into an explanation. She must have meant Kitano. Kazuo eyed her bare throat again. Stupid, that Kitano should let her live but not fit her with a collar like the rest of them. Probably to avoid government technicalities.

His eyes lifted just in time to meet hers, and he held her gaze there with a dark intensity as he nodded once in answer. His eyes then flitted briefly to his gun again, almost as if he was concerned it might wander off if he did not check on it periodically.

An exasperated sigh resounded through the room. She took the cloth pressed to his head and threw it into the water.Did all this boy care about was the damn gun? Her brows furrowed while lips pursed in frustration. Her fingers wandered to the breast-pocket of her nightdress, and procured a key.
"See this? This is *the* key to the handcuffs!" She hissed. "That gun isn't going anywhere, and neither are you!"
The hand holding the key slammed onto the floor. It stung, and the key surely left a mark. Her breathing became more frequent and noisy, trying to balance the mental overload.
"Dammit." She muttered.
The game. The concept sounded familiar, but the adults around the island tended to keep quiet about it.

Minutes passed, and she became calmer, but did not dare look at the boy. Her temper was short, and this definitely made his glare scarier. She picked up the key to the handcuffs again and pressed the cool metal against her forehead as she brought her knees to her forehead, not caring that the length of her dress was becoming shorter. More time passed, and she finally spoke.
"How do you play?"

Kazuo jumped slightly at the girl's sudden fit. His dark eyes locked onto the key when it was presented, though, his gaze so focused he may not have even been listening. He followed the key when it was slammed down on the floor, and in turn when it was lifted to the girl's forehead; tunnel vision, like a dog following a treat.

At her question, his face lit up slightly, and after a moment a subtle smile played across his lips. His gaze shifted to the submachine gun on the table again, and he gave a brisk nod in its direction - as if to say Give me that, and I'll show you. Even without saying anything though, his answer seemed ominously clear enough.

The realization came quickly, but her answer did not. Murder. Cold-blooded murder. That's all the game was.

Fear began to dance around her body again, and she was soon shaking. More questions ran through her head. How many people were on the island? What were they like? Were they school criminals that society wanted gone?

...Was the captive the most sane of all of them?

She was in danger. She had to stay safe. She didn't have any fancy weapons, but...
He did.
Him, of all people.

Setsuko's mouth opened, but no sound came out. The thought itself was revolting, as he had just nonchalantly made a threat to kill her. But he was powerful. She could see that he was a little lean, and somewhat agile. But why should he keep her alive? Why?

More time passed as she struggled with her thoughts. Then her eyes widened. She got it.

"...I'll let you go." The words felt unreal, and she began to feel hollow. "On account that we make a deal, first."

After nodding for his Uzi, Kazuo's gaze returned to scrutinizing the girl. He could see the color draining out of her face, and her frame shivering. His dark eyes seemed to eat up her fear. He could see gears churn through her face and emotions sift through her features, and watched intently, as focused as if he was trying to pry open her mind.

His posture perked somewhat as soon as an idea appeared to sweep over the girl's face, like he had been waiting for it. His head tilted just slightly at her words, though, and his expression grew no brighter for the offer. On the contrary, his face didn't change at all. It looked no less deadpan, his eyes no less deadly. But he did appear to be listening... even as his hands writhed quietly behind him.

She wished she could take her words back, but what if one of the participants found her later? She'd be done for.

Survival on this island was one thing, but trying to survive with murderous students put into the equation was another.

Questions still plagued her mind. What if this boy said nothing? What if he attacked her as soon as she let him go?

Either way, Hell was coming. Setsuko did not have any more time to wait.

"The deal..." She choked a little. "When I let you go, do not kill me."

Her heart sunk when his expression did not change (in fact, she felt as if his glare became more murderous). But she already began. She had to finish.

"Believe it or not, I can be useful." Her voice was slow. She needed to choose her words carefully around him. "I grew up here. I know almost all the areas."
His expression was still unchanged. This was looking hopeless, but she kept going. "Every hideout, every hidden place. Overlooks. So, you can have an advantage over the others."

The key in her fingers started to get closer to him.

"What do you say? Your freedom, in exchange for my knowledge. Provided that you keep me alive."

If anything, his expression only grew somewhat darker at her initial introduction of the deal. That was a lot to ask for. Especially once he got his weapons back. His gaze flickered to the Uzi, and some barely detectable trace of anxiety ghosted through his eyes. Nothing was for certain once that submachine gun was in his hand again -- and he knew it. But he kept listening as the girl continued.

His face did not change. The intensity in his gaze did not waver. His eyes moved to the key in her hand when it crept tentatively closer, and he watched it thoughtfully. Kazuo glanced down toward his handcuffs, then his bandaged arm, briefly over the girl's collar-less throat, and finally to the gun on the table. He began to chew at his lip slightly, he was thinking so hard. But finally, after a couple of minutes, he gave a short nod, though he did not meet the girl's eyes. And in case she had missed it, he gave another one - just as small - for affirmation.

The wild-haired youth turned and leaned to one side then so as to give easier access to the handcuffs. His wrists already were marked and sore from his restless squirming.

There was no comfort in his acceptance. None. She had no idea how he would lead, or how he would treat her as a quasi-partner. Was she even considered his partner, now? Or was she merely a silent guide? Either way, she had better get those handcuffs off of him quickly. But freeing him now would mean less time for her needs.
"I need to take care of some things. Then I can free you. I promise I'll be quick."

She headed upstairs, blinking irritably at the sun's rays. The analog clock on the wall was still working, it was five-thirty in the morning.

The mirrors along the hallway and in her room were wrapped in a grey fabric and tied with a thin noose. Mother and father were planning to take them back to the store a few days ago, but the evacuation took care of that. She had not washed in days, and felt indecent, but first, she took the sharp, steel shears on her sink and began to cut her hair. Fingers gently pieced sections together towards her chin, and in little snips, her hair had been cut. It was a new beginning for her. Of course, her hands often went to the scissors when stress came.

Cold water lapped against her skin, but she scrubbed vigorously as she sat in the metal tub. Not much time had passed, but she rushed. The nameless stranger could get impatient, considering he was cuffed to the stair railing pole. She ran the rough towel over her skin and slipped the blue smallclothes on. There was nothing to wear but a vast array of dresses, but she picked the one that would be the most tolerable to wear: the grey cotton dress. The large buttons that danced along the back and front were soon set, and her school shoes had to do. She fastened the shears along the loose, sewn on ribbon, praying that she would never have to use them.

Shoes clicked on the wooden stairs, her return was met by an impatient glare. He was still resting on his side, giving her a better view of the handcuffs. The hand holding the key was shaky, but she made a show of unlocking them. First, she totally missed the keyhole, accidentally poking his skin on the exposed part of his forearm. Then, she dropped them. Composure was later regained, though, and the handcuffs clicked open. The metal had left red pressure rings on his wrists, but nothing else. Nothing signaling a cut of circulation. Setsuko placed the cuffs on the floor and sighed, her hands traveling to massage her head.

PostSubject: Re: Gunpoint Kiss- The Roleplay Before the Writing   Sat Aug 04, 2012 3:05 pm

Almost as soon as he had leaned over to be freed, the girl rushed off to 'take care of some things'. A scowl crossed his face, and he sat back up, glowering across the room.

Time crawled by at the pace of a slug. Kazuo occasionally heard gunfire, and the sound made him itch for conflict and writhe against his restraints. But of course he got nowhere. When they weren't absently sifting over the floor and room, his eyes mostly lingered between his Uzi and the window as the morning progressed.

He was bored out of his damn mind.

He could hear footsteps, and running water. More footsteps. Finally, said footsteps drew closer, and the girl reappeared, key in hand - with a haircut. Kazuo dismissed the change. He perked up and leaned over again to bare his handcuffs. He flinched, scowling briefly, when he was jabbed with the key, but patiently held still, listening attentively for the click of the handcuffs being unlocked. Once he felt his hands were free, he slowly drew them to his front, feeling carefully over his marked wrists.

The youth's utter calm at being released was abruptly and violently shattered when his hand lunged for Setsuko's throat as quick as a striking snake. He pulled her around to pin her beside him against the stair railing with no regard whatsoever for how hard she was smashed against it, glowering into her eyes. His grip fluctuated dangerously, as if his hand was hungry to crush the air from her neck, but he did - only barely - keep from strangling her.

After almost a minute of pumping venom through their eye contact, Kazuo roughly released the girl, and climbed stiffly to his feet. His legs ached somewhat, but only out of lack of activity; he knew after walking around some they would be fine. As soon as he started moving for his gun, however, he stumbled, one hand clutching the stair railing while the other grasped his head as a wave of vertigo swept over him. He had to pause and wait for most of the dizziness to pass before he could stagger his way to the table and swipe up his Uzi, promptly throwing its strap back over his shoulder.

His hand slid slowly over the cool, neglected metal of the submachine gun, his finger feeling at the trigger.

Darkness overtook his face again. Kazuo whipped around, simultaneously raising his Uzi to aim it for the girl, though he did not fire yet. There was an ominous newfound intensity in his eyes - the look of a heartless, cold-blooded, and bloodthirsty predator whose only thought, motive, or desire was to kill. His finger quivered over the trigger as he strode briskly closer until the end of the gun was at her head. With his free hand, he tapped at the strap of the gun, and then made a grabby motion with his hand as if to signal she was to give him something.

He still needed his bag and his other weapons. A dagger and revolver had been at his belt. Two grenades were in his bag, along with his other supplies. Perhaps most importantly now that he had his submachine gun, he needed his map. He wasn't sure what time it was, but figured some danger zones might be announced soon.

A strangled cry escaped her as his hand wrapped around her throat, and she felt enormous pain in her back as she was slammed against the railing. The same sensation went through the back of her head as it hit the wood. Another cry escaped, except this one was louder.

His grip wavered from wringing her neck to near-constriction. As the sensation of the collision wore off, she felt the sharp points of the shears digging into her leg. The contact was not enough to shed blood, but enough to hurt and irritate. But above all else, she was forced to gaze into his eyes. His expression was deadlier, designed to instill fear within seconds. Her hands wanted to creep up to try to pull his own away, but they were stuck. As were her eyes and tongue. Setsuko could not even blink. This nameless boy had absolute control, here. He was closer than ever, there was slight contact from his nose on the skin beneath her eyes, but he quickly pulled away once he touched her. She was sure that he could feel her heartbeat in her throat.

It was only a minute that passed, but it felt longer than that. Each second, his grip changed. He did not choke her much, but when he let go, her breathing became heavy, more audible. She did not want to give him the satisfaction that he had hurt and terrified her. It was too late, however. Setsuko knew that he could do all that, and more. Her eyes passed over him again as he walked over to the table. He stumbled, and stopped, grabbing the stair railing above her. Composure regained, he strode over, as she huddled in the nearby corner of the stairs. She saw him grab the gun and a new air passed over him: the air of a cold-blooded killer. The air of a predator. Even though his back was turned to her, her heart sunk down into her stomach. Her body was frozen again.

A louder cry rang through the room once he turned around and he pointed the Uzi at her. His eyes were more intense than ever, murderous and cold. She shut her eyes and looked away. His footsteps drew closer, and she felt the cold metal of the end of the gun at her head. This made her face him, and another strained cry escaped from her manhandled throat. She watched him made a gesture that obviously meant that he wanted his supplies. As if puppet strings had attached themselves to her joints, she stood up. She had another journey upstairs; her ears were ringing as she ascended to the next floor, so she had no idea if he was following her or if he was waiting.

The closet door slid open, and the dim morning light showed that the bag, the dagger and the revolver were carefully placed on the floor. She was on her knees again, and she grabbed the supplies and placed them on the floor next to her.
"What did I get myself into?..."

The boy's breathing was slow and heavy and strained, like it took physical effort not to shoot her. Her whimpers made his dark eyes hungry, but not in the typical sense of the phrase; it was like his gaze was peeling back her skin and staring across her blood and muscle like a lion might stare at raw meat.

Still, he refrained, and moved after her as she turned to lead him up the stairs and into another room. There she opened a closet, where she crouched to nervously drag his weapons and supplies out onto the floor before him like a sacrificial offering. His Uzi still trained on her, his deadly look shifted down briefly as he picked up the dagger and revolver, each in turn taking their place back on his belt. Finally, Kazuo scooped up the army duffel bag to sling over his shoulder on top of the Uzi strap, though he was careful not to restrain the latter so that the gun would have maximum range of motion.

When he stood back up straight, he studied the girl carefully as if thinking. But after a moment, he at last lowered his weapon, and turned to stride briskly back downstairs.

He only paused to swipe up the first aid kit and whisk it away onto the table, where he opened it and pawed haphazardly through its contents to pick out what he wanted. Gauze, antibacterial lotion, and even stitching supplies were all moved into his bag. Once finished, the youth strode for the door, apparently with no thought for any more food or water than what he already had on him; and little to no regard for if his captor was following or not. It was obvious his priority was to get back in the game.

Setsuko reached the bottom of the stairs just as he walked out the door. Her eyes turned to the open first aid kit on the table, which had been partially rummaged through and empty. Her feet carried her far out the door after she saw how much footing he had gained, not caring that she tipped over the wooden bucket.

She followed close behind him, able to pass him if she wanted to, but she figured she should stay where she was, considering that he attempted to strangle her and that he could point that Uzi at her whenever he wanted to. They approached the spot where she found him two hours ago. It was rocky and rather steep, but it was brighter than it was earlier. But not even the sun in the sky provided her comfort, she was out in the open. Her life was fair game, and it was partially placed in the wild stranger's hands. It was a bad time to ask his name, but she even wondered if she would get an answer.

The two were about to start their descent on the rocky hill, but then a male voice rang out through the entire island. A twitch led to her brushing her hand against his briefly, she turned to look at him questioningly.

Reflexively, his hand jerked away from hers when they brushed, even though he couldn't tell if she had touched him on purpose or not. There was occasionally shouting around the island, but most of it was faint, or from an indeterminable direction, so Kazuo paid the noise little mind. No sound made him pause in the least until 6AM announcements came around, and he swiftly took out his map and attached marker, leaning over somewhat to use his thigh for a flat surface. Danger zones were read off, and he marked them on his map as necessary in handwriting not unlike a 3rd grader's. Once announcements were over, he put the map away again and continued on.

As morning progressed, he did begin to pause from time to time. Once to have a drink of water, and other than that seemingly without any reason at all; he would stop, stand still, and tilt his head around carefully, perhaps sweeping his gaze through the scenery or just listening for signs of other participants. Just as from the moment he had awoken, the wild-haired youth was no good for conversation whatsoever.

A couple of gunshots in succession made him freeze. The sound wasn't too far off... and was soon followed by a more thunderous shot, as of a shotgun. Kazuo's head turned to stare off in the gunfire's direction, eyes as alert as a cat's that had heard its prey in the brush. Promptly, he turned to head in that direction, adjusting his near ever-present grip on the submachine gun. He either seemed to have a good sense of direction and a strong mental map of the island, or didn't much care where he was going at all, because the boy didn't check his map often even as he changed course.

Of all the things she focused on as he wrote on the map, it was his handwriting. It was scraggly and has unpracticed as hers when she was a little one just starting school. Her eyes followed the pen as he wrote things down. The map of the island had been divided into grids with a vast array of letters and numbers. Her ears picked up as the dry voice started to spew out names. All were foreign to her, but there were numerous. She counted each one under her breath.
"Fourteen." The colors were draining from her face, she could feel it.
She had no idea how many were left, but fourteen school-aged kids, just like her, were gone. There was no time to ponder, though. He was already headed downhill and she did not want to be alone.

It was not that late into the morning when she realized that she had forgotten a few necessities. She was not hungry yet, but she would need to get food later on. As for the water, she would probably have to sneak a few sips from his supply. There were numerous streams around the island, but those were perfect spots for her to be targeted. Besides, even the streams became scummy and dirty around this time of year.
As she watched him drink, her throat tightened, and the dryness was becoming more apparent. She eyed the liquid enviously. A small, dry gurgle involuntarily came up to her mouth, and her hand flew to her mouth; cheeks becoming red in embarrassment.
They both went on. He refused to speak. Setsuko would have been grateful that he kept quiet because of his impulses and violent outbursts, but she was not. Loneliness was an anchor on her heart. The cold and hollow feeling that enveloped her as she was making the deal with the wild youth remained and was as strong as ever. At least she had someone around, right? Even if he was as vicious as a rabid animal.

The gunshots rang through her ears, and she dropped onto the ground stomach-first. A whimper escaped her lips once she heard the bolt of a shotgun. She knew that the boy was more than interested in the sound. Without even checking the map, he changed direction, but she knew where he was headed. Her knees slightly scraped the ground as she got up in a rush.
"Wait!"
Her hand shot out and grabbed his free one, which was dangling carelessly. Fingers locked around the spaces between his.
"Unh."
Within seconds, she broke away from him, her head hanging down.
"That's a path to one of the largest clearings on this island. We'd be fair game if anyone else was there!" Her head eventually rose, her long neck straightening. "But there's a better way, over there. An overlook."

PostSubject: Re: Gunpoint Kiss- The Roleplay Before the Writing   Sun Aug 05, 2012 12:01 pm

(( Slow and temporary internet for just tonight; mooching off of someone's phone, haha. I'll check out the area for a cafe or something tomorrow. ))

The beginnings of a scowl crossed his face, brows knitting when his hand was clutched. He jerked away again, simultaneously raising his submachine gun for her, though the gesture slowed and became half-hearted almost immediately as if it had only been reflex, and no shots were fired. Still with a sour look in his features, his dark eyes swept her up and down irritatedly, as if to ask What the hell were you doing?

The girl paused awkwardly. It was obvious she knew she had done something wrong, but Kazuo's scowl did not dissipate in the least for her humility. Soon enough, she went on to explain her outburst.

He glanced around for a moment, impatience still hovering about his expression. This didn't look like a path at all to him. But whatever; she had made her point. At last, the boy grabbed for his map, gaze scanning through it for his location. His Uzi-wielding hand lifted to rub at his wild head of hair, concentration mixing into his expression. He realized he was not sure quite how far the girl had taken him to what was presumably her home from where he had been knocked out around F6... But he did work out that he was likely in C5 or possibly C6 by now, or at least near them. D6 was the school, and a danger zone. According to the girl, ahead was a clearing; there was probably ample space to move around the clearing, but being rather confined between a danger zone and the ocean made him anxious.

His gaze shifted to the girl again when she offered an alternative route. He leaned over to suddenly whack her upside the head with his map. An overlook was a stupid idea. If you were high enough to spot people, people could almost just as easily spot you.

He paused to think about the clearing, staring down at his map again. So long as he didn't venture into the clearing himself, it might be a good place to scope out others... but then, were these kids really stupid enough to wander through a clearing?

The boy sighed dismissively, tucking his map away. He would continue forward and avoid the clearing when they got to it. He could check the clearing and the overlook for participants, and all the while hunt for the source of the gunfire.

So without any further regard for the protests of his companion, Kazuo trudged on through C6. It wasn't much farther, however, before another sound caught his attention... but it wasn't gunfire. Shouting, through some kind of speaker. Female voices. Without glancing to the girl behind him, he was quick to pick up the pace, half-jogging forward until he could spy not only the clearing but the source of the sound through the trees. The overlook lay ahead; he could just barely make out two figures atop it, using a megaphone to.... call an end to the fighting...? A grin poured into the boy's features, casting an eerily amused glint in his dark eyes. He looked about ready to laugh, and a breathy sound much akin to laughter escaped him.

There was male shouting from the other end of the clearing. Some exchange between familiars. Kazuo did not stick around to listen, moving swiftly past the clearing, though he paused before the steep hill that led to the overlook, abruptly whipping around so the end of his Uzi was at his companion's head again. He hastily pointed the gun between the girl and the ground, signaling for her to stay put, before taking off to climb the hill headed for the overlook. On his way up, there was another bolt of the shotgun he had heard before - but the shot had not come from the overlook, so he did not hesitate in his approach.
